Keep Knocking

" Our prayers are answered not when are given what we ask, but when we are challenged to be what we can be."
Morris Adler

If you feel like throwing the towel and give up what you really wanted to become, i suggest don't!Keep your faith and hold on. You maybe knocking on the door but until now it is close but i strongly suggest ... just stay on that door until God in His own timing opens it.

The problem with many people is that when they knock on a door and if it does not open right away, they move to the next. That's exactly how we chase our dreams right? When the door we are knocking does not open on our desired time we move out. When we pray and the only answer we can get is silence we give up on what we are praying for easily thinking that it isn't for us.Hey! Don't give up praying. Keep knocking Heavens door my friend.

Sometimes doors does not open right away for us. And most of this doors that does not open immediately are the doors that has something for us. If it does not open on your time just stay there and listen to the movement inside.I am sure the one inside that door is preparing the surprises for you.

Its tough and difficult to wait. But don't loose sight of the reason why you are knocking on that door. It is because you want to get in.It is because you want to be inside that door.As for me the door that i am knocking is still close but i can hear movements inside and they seem to be preparing something for me.Something that will surprise me. And not only that i can also hear some foot steps moving to the door.Wow!

As for you my friend, just knock on and keep standing in front of that door until God in His perfect timing opens it.By the way have you knocked it?

Can't finish what you have started?

Do you have the habit of starting something but can't finish it? Are you sometimes slow moving towards finishing something?

Here's two tips that i want you to consider for now:

1. Don't be a perfectionist.Don't force yourself to perfectly accomplish a thing. Remember this - any one who strives to succeed on something fail their way to success but they never give up.If some of your moves and decisions did not work then be patient with your self and plunge into making the next action to finish what you have to.

2.Be glued to the pursuit.Keep your eyeballs on the subject, to your goal, to your dreams or to what you really wanted to achieve out from what you have started.

More tips are coming your way as soon as i am feeling well.I wish you all the smiles today and remember that Life is not a dress rehearsal- it's a live show!

Don't boggle your mind

Here's another story i wanted to share today. By the way have i told you that each of our personal stories are not just stories but are sacred stories? Here's one for your daily dose.

From the very moment he made his first cry (uha uha uha) Lloyd Duhaylungsod declared to the world that he will be successful inspite of the given fact that he is born out of a complicated relationship. His grand mother took care of him and showered him all the love, cares and guidance. He smells the difficulty of being poor and growing without parent.

He goes to school which is seven kilometers away from his home. That means he does 14 kilometer of brisk walking a day.On Sundays he works a a janitor during his high school. He earns eight pesos every Sunday. His heart pumps faster every end of the month because he receives 32 peso check which he fairly use for his personal needs especially his favorite soap Argo. He also give some to his grand mother and the rest is his allowance. How did he do it? Ask him!

There were times that out of great need his grand mother would eat less and give to him the rest of the food.He wondered why at first but later he realized that its all because of love.(His grand mother deserves an Ulirang Lola Award)His grand mother wasn't the only good person in his life because even mother nature provide Lloyd a protection from the rain through the banana leaves planted along his path to school.

Fascinated by his achievements in school and his dedication his step mother offered to support his college education.Fast forward... After graduation he choose to work for a bank so he can have just a five day work and spend a day for church.

He applied to one of the biggest bank in the country and pass the exams and interviews. But he was devastated because when he was ask to go to the branch office for interview he was turn down with out second thought like he is not needed. The fire
is still in him and so he applied to another bank with a 3 word name.(make a guess) Pass the exams and interviews but just like the first one he was rejected.(I guess he cried a rainfall of tears that day)Anyways lets continue with his venture. Two straight denial is not enough to bring him down and he applied again to another bank. This time he decided to look for a bank that will give him a solid future and so he applied to a bank that has a very solid name.(i guess you know the name of the bank now)He pass the exams, the initial interview but once again denied on the final interview.

He believes in the saying "try and try" and so again he applied. This time to a not so solid and big bank but a bank that has many friends(read between the lines so you can guess the name of the bank)To his surprise he was accepted! When he went to apply everyone in the bank welcomed him with excitement like he is very much needed. Not only that, instead of getting the clerical job which he applied for he was hired as an auditor. Now thats really a WOW!

Just a few years after that he became the manager and was invited by another bank (a huge bank ... Metro Bank)He accepted the offer and he was assigned in Leyte but not for long because he was sent to Cebu to manage a branch.Days before he went to report for his new branch he went out to see personally the location of the bank and he almost fall to his knees.Because the bank the he is going to manage was actually one of the bank that denied him. It was bought by Metro Bank! The second bank that denied him was also bought by another bank.

Had he worked there probably he will be out of job sooner than he thinks.Or he will not be getting the position that God desired for him.He desires for clerical job but God wants him to be an auditor in preparation for managerial work. Can you see how God works now? Sometimes we can't understand why things happen and why doors slammed in front of us.God's plan for you is really big.

Let me share to you a text message from my friend and former teacher Dr.Gladys Fuentes...

"When you cannot understand God's reason for doing things the way He does, pray and whisper " Lord please give me a trusting heart and not a questioning mind"

You are inscribed in Gods hand my friend.Trust His heart and plans for you.Don't boggle your mind with a million and one question why things you did not expect are happening. That shows He is working out on something bigger and better.

P.S. The 32 pesos salary that he was able to fairly and equally allocates to his needs and to his lola is the first financial management lesson that he gets.God is amazing indeed!

Sweeter as the years go bye

Men gives all the needed sweet words and promises to capture the heart of the lady they wanted to live forever.Usually the promises goes like this
"I promise you the heavens, the moon and the stars, the flowers in the garden and all the chocolate bars". But thats during the courting. After the wedding the woman will see all the stars while waiting for their husbands to arrive home.Or the husband will eat all the sweets because the wife is diabetic ha ha ha.

Here's some tips from the single guy (thats me)to keep the marriage sweet. If this doesn't work, please don't sue me...remember i'm single.Single ladies who happens to read this item may you find my worth as a bf or husband to desire ha ha ha.

Here's the tips:

Honor each other- Give your spouse all the honor in the world in words, in kind and in action.

Be a nurse, doctor and care giver to each other- I remember one sick husband who told her wife " your love keeps healing me"(how sweet)

Bring back the courtship- Go out for a date. Walk in the park where you use to walk.Go to the mall like you use to do a decade ago.(please don't bring your credit card)

Always re-structure your family and couples activity to avoid boredom and predictability.Keep each other to look forward to a coming soon event.

Go to church together- Attend church the way you do when your where still sweethearts where you hold hands while listening to the homily.Where you listen more to the beating of your hearts than to the preaching ha ha ha.

Use Paraphrasing in your communication- This will help you and your spouse be cleared about some issues or concerns. It will help you both to get to the point vividly.

Have no secret- Let your spouse have access to the inbox, out box, and sent messages of your mobile phone. Give him/her access to your face book.Have a joint bank account.

Always Empathize- Before you decide to react or decide always think of how your spouse would feel about it.Put your self in their situation before you give a decision.

Marriage is a sacred thing.Others stormed all the sacred sites and even the heaven to find a wife and husband while you got yours. That makes you blessed.Value and treasure the privilege of being married. As for me...the search is not yet over.

Staying sane and effective

Leaders and Managers are human beings too. That means they also have problems and sometimes if not always they get numbed with the pressures they are facing.I have seen leaders get detached from his fellow human creatures due to pressures and conflicts that are piling up. So here's a few tips for you "Leaders" to keep you effective, sane and looking fresh ha ha ha amidst all the shaking moments.

Always be prepared like a Boy Scout- you can never tell what may happen so be ready with how you respond and not how to react on situations.

Live with accountability- see things yourself and don't just believe on what you hear.Assess and see things for yourself and with your own eye balls.

Share your goals and expectations- effective organizational leadership or management demands clear communication, goals and expectations.

Be Courageous- this will help you generate respect, loyalty, confidence among your peers and employees.

Be a solution finder- remember your Math class before? There is always a solution for every problem. You may ask people around you for some formula if you want but don't forget the "given thing."

Stand tall with Integrity- you can only do this if you have some life principles.Get one if you don't have.

Remember that tough times ever last like the last one you tackled

Remeber God and let Him intervene.

P.S. My appreciation to the best student leader i have known (Ken)who wants to embrace change, innovation and new concept. He's from East Visayan Academy of Cebu but now enjoying his fresh year in college at Adventist University of the Philippines.Make waves Ken!

Knock Knock

" A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds."
- Francis Bacon

Are you waiting for opportunities to knock on your door today? You better stop waiting my friend because you will never hear that knock knock.Opportunities will not knock on your door. You can spend your whole lifetime waiting but its going to be a waste of time.

You know why?

Because you are the opportunity! So instead of waiting for it i strongly suggest that you get up. Yeah, you get up and move and open the door to your destiny.Get up and if you are not yet dressed then you get dressed up then open your door and walk towards the blessing that awaits you. You are an opportunity!

Now let me share to you about Jacky the Opportunity

A week ago i met Jacky in the church and then we became friends.
She was born not seeing her father and for 18 years she lived with a relative in Cagayan de Oro city. When she finished high school she went to Manila and work as a house maid. Not long after that she is back in Mindanao because of the death of her uncle.

Wanting to find her place in this world and a better future she went to Cebu and lived with her mother but life wasn't easy as she expects. There was no glimpse of hope for her to study and it was even more difficult because her mother can't help her much with her other needs.Finding no hope to be able to study with her mothers assistance she turns to her inner strength instead of complaining.

Because there was no available help she made it her self because she knows she is an opportunity. In order to support her self and to pursue her desire to study she decided to venture into a small business that surely some good looking and even the not so gifted with beauty would dare not do.

She sells puto cheese, masi (i love masi especially if its free ha ha ha),biko and other snacks from eskina tita.Every morning, while the rest of the world is still sleeping Jacky is already awake and is on her way to get her products to sell.By 5:30 she is already in Highway Mandaue knocking on peoples hungry intestines to buy her stuffs. And it wasn't an easy thing to do because she needs to walk to and fro from the Highway to the fly over area and back again until all the foods are sold.

She is there from early morning to eleven in the morning inhaling the pollution, almost toasted by the sun, half frozen by the rain, maneuvering on the crowd, and experiencing the different attitudes and moods of the mob.Sometimes she is treated like she has no worth but that didnt stop her from the opportunity that she creates because she has a dream to chase.By 11:30 Jacky heads for home to get ready for her class in the afternoon. On Sundays instead of waking up late like what most teens and young people do, she is out again selling and in a much longer route of more than two kilometers walk from Gethsemane church to the highway.

She is glued to pursue her dreams and she knows she can because she believes that she is an opportunity and making excuses like i'm poor, i'm not lucky, i'm shy, i'm scared is not on her dictionary. What she believes is she is an Opportunity that will very soon knock on the doors of her dreams. Her's what i want to say to you Jack... You go GIRL!

The Comfort Room

Do you need enough power to fuel you in your life's journey?

Recently i have the privilege of talking to Brother Rudy Reuyan, a very humble church leader,a good provider, husband and father to his family and a very honest and hard working Division Manager of Cebu Holdings/Ayala Malls. He told me that before he came to where he is right now and before he became what he is right now he went into a difficult journey.

Brother Rudy shared to me that after his marriage he and his family went into terrible financial needs. For eight years he can't find a job, they don't have their own house and they are surviving and living in a day to day basis.Failing to find a permanent work he ventured to small photography business and an extra job as home service appliances technician. But what he earns from this sources aren't enough to support the increasing needs of his family.

There were days that he went into sobbing and asking God to carry him and his family as they go through the day with difficulties.Prayer was his only tool and he do it like a daily ritual and in a very unusual place to pray the CR.(YES the Comfort Room)
There he pours out all his frustrations, questions, family needs and of course his dreams.Eight long years of financial needs plus other problems and eight long years of daily calling God at the CR.

For eight years he is in need but for eight years he remained faithful. For eight years he never compromised his faith and his beliefs and for eight long years he hoped and lived with expectancy. It can be tempting for anyone to grumble, get discouraged, get frustrated but not this man.God carried him all those years. One day God answered him and lead him to his divine connections and to the work God prepared for him

What will you do if life beats you down? When you are in the point of breaking down how will you face life? Like Brother Rudy instead of breaking down, you break through and choose to win in life through prayer and faith. When life grinds us we easily feel defeated but don't.God has promised that He will move if you will seek His help amidst your needs and pains.

Brother Rudy learned that during those difficult eight years God carried him and his family. He told me that those years were actually the season God polished him to be a leader who knows the importance of honesty, humility and most of all giving back to God all the glory in his daily task and success.

If God answered brother Rudy surely he will give you the desires of your heart.Keep praying and hoping and expecting the best from God.

" The power of prayer is experienced by people who believe in it enough to pursue what God has promised"

choose to win!

Today is your day to start winning

Sometimes life gets tough, serious, busy and complicated.Sometimes we don't mean it to happen but there also times that we self manufacture it.Sometimes we wake up one morning to find out that fun had slipped away. Then the feeling that its hard to cope with life creeps in.

Here's some reasons why people can't cope with life:

They live in the past
They have low self esteem
They can't laugh at themselves

If you live with this three you will then start having a negative self talk which will result to failure, fear, procastination and on and on and on.But it is proven that positive self talk results to success , faith, champion associations plus so many other blessings.

Here's my few points to help you cope with life and become a champion:

Say this OUT LOUD!!! every day and every morning and even now right after you read this blog.

"I am a certified champion by birthright,my certificate of life gives me the right to achieve success"

"I will not let my negative defaults determine my level of success"

Now go ahead and take a deep breath and try saying it.I guarantee you'll feel better about yourself and about the achievement of your dream.Go try!

Professionalism

It is sometimes difficult to identify the true meaning of professionalism. Many individuals use professionalism as a mask to cover their lack of ability to do their work effectively.Others use it to impress and others use it to gain power.

What is professionalism then? Professionalism is generally viewed as focused, accountable, competent, confident, with respect for others and motivated towards a goal. This means you draw out the outburst and emotional thralls that accompanies stressful situations and accomplishments.

Professionalism can also be defined as adhering to the accepted standards of a profession and placing the interest of the public or the clients above the individual's immediate needs.A commitment to meet the expectations of their clients of prompt and reliable services.

Some say professionalism is all gone and people are just working for the money. That is absolutely wrong.I can prove to the world that there are still millions of workers who displays professionalism.I have proven it to my self last Saturday when i had breakfast at JOLLIBEE Mandaue ubos branch.

I went there for breakfast before my business appointment and to my surprise the crew and staff who works there were so focused with great customer service attitude inspite of their being busy. They showed great professionalism and a love for their work.Without excited, motivated and workers that works with professionalism a company will not be able to stay dedicated and focused for the long haul.Congratulations to the staff and crew of JolliBEE Mandaue ubos branch especially those who are on duty last Saturday March 13,20010 for being professional and for loving your job and your customers.Professionalism is not yet gone because of you.Congratulations!

I wanted to take this day off but i can't help my self but write something about the wonderful fourth year students of Guilhungan National High School.During the retreat i discovered their not easy experiences in life. "Persistence means taking pains to overcome every obstacle, to do all that's necessary to reach your goal"

"All great achievements requires time.Endurance is the crowning quality of success.

No Fear

Hi how are you? Let me share to you this story that was shared to me by my friend just a few minutes before i conquered the great WHITE CAVE of Camp 7 together with the fantastic fourth year students of East Visayan Academy.

Don't let Fear Hold You Back

A man eager to know what lies ahead for him went to see a fortune teller. As the fortune teller looked into the magic ball he waited curiously. He noticed that the fortune teller is perspiring and shaking her head as she was looking into the magic ball. Then her facial expression said it all.She said " you will have an accident soon and you will die.How will it happen? the man asked."It will involved a vehicle probably a car, truck, motor bike or anything that has wheels and tires", the fortune teller replied.

The man went home disappointed and he keep on thinking how can he avoid the accident foretold by the woman. For two months he agonized thinking of a way.His death due to vehicular accident keeps running in his thought's day in and day out. Finally he made a decision to lock himself in his house. He never went out because of fear and he just stayed in his house for 3 long months.

One morning he decided to go to the kitchen to get some breakfast. His youngest son had left his toy bus on the stairs. The man stepped on the toy on his way down the stairs. He slipped, rolled down the stairs and knocked his head on the concrete floor and died instantly. It indeed involved a vehicle.

This is just a story but there is something to it.Not about believing the fortune tellers for sure.

Here's the moral of the story:

Don't lock yourself, your dream and your future out of fear.Live a life of purpose.Make use of your core gift.Enjoy your passion.Don't lock yourself away. You are God's redeemed child live not in fear!

Do you have fears? doe's it make you feel numb as you face your future? Let me and my associates help you move from where you are to where you should be.

How do you see it?

I have seen a lot of people who look like they are bombarded by all the circumstances in the world. They have drooping shoulders that made them look like a human question mark.I met one guy who use to look like an action star but now he looks like a soldier from ancient Mesopotamia because of how he views his circumstance.Let me share to you what i have told him which actually helped him.

Your circumstance are not negative or positive whatever it is.Like Mathematics they are "the givens" and are neutral. But it is your way of thinking and your perspective that made the circumstance in your life appear negative or positive. If you have considered an event in your life as bad, then there must be something good about it.Everything has its opposite.

Take a look at your bag if you are holding one. Your office if you are in your workplace right now.Your room if you are in your house.Did you notice that there is an inside and outside part of it? right ? Lets turn the table and make it more personal.Look at your body.Yes your gorgeous body! ( take a second look he he he) just kidding. It has left and right side, front and back part right?

The law of Polarity says that in everything their is an opposite - it is equal and opposite. If you are five feet from your door, your door is five feet from you.I motivate and inspire people but it does't excuse me from circumstances that made me cry a river, makes me scream makes me scream!(that line is from a song) Here's what i do... i draw a circle and i put at the center my circumstance and i navigate around it until i am on the other side and i look at the situation from there.

Honest! it is much clearer to see things from there. What is your circumstance right now?
got no cell phone load? having a flat tire? you failed in the exams? no date for valentines day?
Every problem, every circumstance can be viewed two ways. The way you look at a circumstance determines the quality of life you live.

Do you find this idea difficult? Look at it from a different perspective.

" Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equivalent or a greater benefit" Napoleon Hill

You can manage your life

Have you read of 80/20 % rule? It is one of the most effective concept in time or life management. It is founded by Vilfredo Pareto in 1895.

The principle says that 20% of your activities will account for 80% of your results, 20% of your customers will account 80% of your sales, 20% of your products or services will account 80% of your profits, 20% of your task will account 80% of the value of what you do and so on.

This means that if you have a list of ten items to do, two of those items will turn out to be worth five or ten times or more than the other eight items put together. The most precious task you can do everyday are more often the most difficult and complex but the rewards can be amazing.

For this reason, you must refuse to work on task in the bottom of 80% while you still have the task in the top 20% left undone.Time management is really life management. It is about taking control over the sequence of events.

It is about having control over what you do next.Your ability to choose between the less important and important will determine your success in life and in your career.

Prayer for Today

Here's something i am dying to share.I'm sharing with you "A Prayer for Today" by W. Heartstill Wilson.

This is the beginning of a new day.
God has given me this day to use as i will.
I can waste it or use it for good, but what i do today is important, because i am exchanging a day of my life for it.
When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever, leaving in its place something that i have traded for it.
I want it to be gain, and not loss, good and not evil; success and not failure, in order that i shall not regret the price i have paid for it.
This day is all we have . Is there someone to whom an act of kindness not tomorrow but today could make a world of difference?
Today, whether we spend it well or throw it away, will be gone tomorrow. What is there to do that is worth our effort?

Just One Choice

One choice, just one choice can change your life forever.Simply put, your life today is what your choice have made it, but with your new choices, you can change the direction of your life.

Your choice might be: to change career, to go back to school, to start a business (like me), to change your life style, to stop smoking or not to quit in a relationship. If you have the courage to make a choice today you will see the difference it brings.

That's what my friend and former student Carlo Sumugat did. From being "just" a student, from being "just" a member of the community, from being a typical son who ask allowance from parents he choose to be a leader and make a difference in the lives of the youth. At first people say he is way over his head but he pursued that choice. He then run as president of Youth Federation of Sipalay City and he won.

Seeing the needs of his constituents he made great programs for the youth. That one choice made him somebody in the province of Negros Occidental. He is presently the Vice President of the Sangguniang Kabataan of Negros Occidental. From being a nobody Carlo become a somebody just because he made a choice.

You are one choice away from changing your life.Begin to shift your perspective and make a choice.Make one today and the path to growth will open to you.

vote wisely

Allow me to share with you this story.

Vote wisely on the coming election!

A powerful and influential politician was tragically hit by a car and died while walking down the street. His soul arrives in heaven and was met by St.Peter at the entrance.

Welcome to heaven" says St.Peter. "Before you settle in Mr. Politician i want you to know that there is a little problem. We seldom see politicians around these area, you see, so we're not sure what we will really do with you sir"
"No problem just let me in" says the politician.

"Well,id like to but i have orders from my boss. What we will do is have you spend one day in hell and also a day in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity.
"Really, i made up my mind. I want to be in heaven". Says the politician.

"I am so sorry sir but we have rules here". St Peter then escorted the politician to the elevator and they went down, down and down to hell.

The doors opened and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a club house and standing in front of it are his fellow friends in politics. They are having a party. They run to greet him and give him a hug and they went talking about their good times while getting rich at the expense of their constituents. After playing golf they enjoy a great meal of lobster, lukon, lechon, checharon and of course the caviar and some expensive wines.

Also present is the devil, who is very very friendly and has a good time dancing and entertaining the guest. They are having a good time that before he realizes it is time for him to go.
Everyone gives him a big hug and waves while the elevator rises. The elevator went up and then re-opens at the gate of heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him.

" Now it's time to visit heaven"

The politician then joined a bunch of contented souls moving from one cloud to another , playing their harp while singing. They are having a good time and, before he realizes another 24 hours is over and St. Peter returns.
"Well then, you've spent a day in hell and a day in heaven. Now choose your eternity"

He reflects for a minute, then the answer: " well, would never have thought it, I mean heaven has been a delightful place, but i think i would be better in hell"

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and goes down, down and down to hell. Now the doors of the elevator open and he is in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage. He sees his friends, dresses in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags. The devil then appears and put his arms on his neck.

"I don't understand" stammers the politician. Yesterday i was here and there was a golf course and a club house and there was a party. Now all there is a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable.

The devil looks at him, smiled and says, " yesterday we were campaigning. Today you voted for us!

Vote wisely in the coming elections !!!

There is a treasure inside you. It is the treasure of JOY, HOPE, LOVE, PEACE and GOOD HEALTH. You don't have to search around the world for it. It is right inside you now waiting to be discovered !

As you discover the treasure in you please try to reflect on the following life's lesson:

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doub't, just take the next small step.
3.Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Agree to disagree. Don't try to win every argument.
5.Cry with someone. It is much healing than crying alone.
6.Make peace with your past so it wont screw up the present.
7. Believe in miracles.
8.Don't audit your life, make the best of it.
9. Find time to be alone with God.
10. Be an instrument of God's miracle.
